WCC President Receives Award from Michigan Works! Southeast for Outstanding Service in Workforce Development
ANN ARBOR, Mich., April 7, 2017 – Washtenaw Community College President Dr. Rose B. Bellanca has been selected by Michigan Works! Southeast to receive an award for Outstanding Service in Workforce Development in Washtenaw County.
Bellanca and other workforce development staff, program alumni, volunteers, and programs from throughout the region will be recognized during an awards luncheon today at Weber’s Inn in Ann Arbor.
“A healthy economy depends on preparing the right people for the right jobs,” said Bellanca. “Michigan’s most important resource is a skilled workforce and community colleges play a key role in providing employers with a job-ready workforce. It is an honor to receive this award, particularly in April, which is celebrated nationally as Community College Awareness Month.”
Bellanca holds board positions in a wide array of workforce development organizations including Ann Arbor SPARK, the Southeast Michigan Council of Government’s Economic Development Taskforce, and the Workforce Intelligence Network. She also served as chair of the talent council for the state’s Region 9 Prosperity Initiative.
