A few years ago when we started A2 Tech Trek, we always had some intention of getting college students involved. In fact, We found that students, and their families, we’re showing up to explore Ann Arbor’s tech scene on their own during the event. Students from Ann Arbor, Ypsilanti, Chelsea, and other parts of metro Detroit we’re coming in to check things out (which is part of the reason we do it in the first place).

But A2 Tech Trek has always been held in June, so we usually miss college students, as they’re either working, interning, or away for the summer. Which is why last April, we partnered with the University of Michigan‘s Center for Entrepreneurship on a pilot A2 Discovery Trek, where we introduced students to career opportunities in Ann Arbor.

[A2 Trek] made me aware of all the tech around town and the chances for me to make my own startup one day here in the city.

On Friday, March 22, we are excited to bring a back in a bigger way. A2 Student Trek is a curated, half day experience for college students from across the region, including the University of Michigan, Eastern Michigan university, Washtenaw Community College, Lawrence Tech, Kettering, and Purdue. We expect to have 65-75 students headed around town as part of the program.

Students will start speed networking with companies of all sizes at SPARK Central, then head to Barracuda Networks, TD Ameritrade, Cahoots, and Pillar Technology for experiences that demonstrate the challenges they would be asked to help solve as part of a career in Ann Arbor.

Students interested in joining the waitlist can learn more on the A2 Student Tech Trek event page.
