Jackson Area College and Career Connection Early/Middle College

Created in 2014, this partnership between local school districts, Baker College, Jackson College, Jackson Area Career Center, JAMA, and the EG/CVC offers a unique three-year learning opportunity. Beginning in their high school junior year, the program will result in a high school diploma, up to 64 credit hours (Associate’s Degree) through Jackson College, and a technical certification – all tuition free for the students and their families. Local businesses that sponsor a student commit a vested interest in working with them and provide students with pre-apprenticeship training. The first cohorts are manufacturing-related, and the program is anticipated to provide the model for other in-demand fields, such as construction trades, IT and engineering. The first year participation results include nine school districts, 19 students and 12 employers.
